This
is my rendition of the classic Quake 1 map, DM6. I have rebuilt
the entire map from scratch keeping in mind all aspects of
the original. This process included new architecture with
a sensible use of curves, new textures derived from the original
Quake 1 textures, details like torches and other models, and
custom shaders for the various special effects found throughout
the map.
The map
supports bots who play really well when their difficulty is
set to Hardcore or Nightmare. I highly recommend trying that
for yourself. They make good usage of all the areas of the
map at this intelligence level and are a real challenge to
defeat.
There
isn't a whole lot else to say about this one other than the
fact that I had to make it because the current DM6 conversions
I have played are just not up to par in my opinion. I am glad
that others are attempting to port some of the most amazing
DM maps ever to Quake III, but at the same time most of the
attempts leave me speechless with their poor quality. This
one is different.
It should
have been completed months ago, but I got side tracked with
some important real world obligations and couldn't help putting
it off. Now it is complete and ready for thrashing! Please
