"Use
your wits, trust your instincts...As
usual, no clues."
Here we have a large
terracotta map from late 1997. A huge
challenge, with strange refrences to
Jesus abound, although they seem
sarcastic in nature. Well, how is it?
Architecture is plain,
mostly brown brick walls with curves
thrown in to spice things up a bit, and
the odd runic detail here and there.
There are not many combat hindering
obstructions around, but there are, for
some reason, very small doorways, so
backing up is taken away as an option
sometimes. Some areas look poor, just box
hallways, but there's not too many of
these, so it's not that bad. Most areas
do have at least one point of visual
interest, whether it be arches, curving
windows or runic details.
Layout in definetly 3-D, but
in an unnatural way, the map's layout
seems forced, as often the overlooking
areas are just a single brush bridge,
with no detail whatsoever. This is a
large map, and there is quite a bit of
going back and forth, but teleporting
monsters always keep it intresting. The
layout is non-linear, not overly so, but
it is sometimes confusing as the brown
brick texture is prominent in every room.
Both keys are required to exit, and can
be gotten in any order.

Gameplay is simply great. As
soon as you start off you see a Shambler
walking away from you. Jussi obviously
thought that maps did not have enough
Shamblers, so he threw in 13 ( ! ) for
your enjoyment.
Most of these you must take
out with your double barreled shotgun,
which i do anyway. To make matters worse
for you, Ogres have the audacity to drop
grenades on you from above, and Knights
and fiends are constantly harassing you
on the ground. Very fun and entertaining
stuff. Ammo is a bit short in places, so
don't get careless. Health is in large
abundance, but you have to backtrack a
lot ot find it. No skill settings in
place, so if you have doubts about your
quakery skills, you will be destroyed.
Nothing breathtaking
architectually, but with such great
gameplay, how could you pass it up?
