Tower of Portugal
The whole world wants to beat the World Record!
Tonight, about 59 Portuguese quakers joined on-line to try and beat the record of the 42 Man tower on DM17. It could have been better, but we only managed to get 44 people up there without some crazy guy crumbling the tower away. Still, record broken :)
Some people say they used cheats.. some people say they don`t, Im not saying my opinion, im only saying it is posible with CA (osp) mode on (in warmup time), you can shoot your enemys, without harming them.. it could be they just rocket-jumped on each others head. Neither you can cause selfdamage with CA, its your decision whether you find that lame or not.

Err, you shouldnt assume anything without actually look at the demos wich are available at that XSR post or here http://www.ptarena.net/files/tower
You will see the tower was built without any cheats. What would be the point on that actually. Think dude, think.
Btw, as said on many other sites, the Swiss tower doesnt really beats anything because: 1) they have more than 1 player per floor. 2) it was made on lan, which means they didnt have to deal with any lag issues..
Oh, and i like Quake3stuff.com, dont get me wrong :)

Yea, i think i should have watched the demo first.. but i dont have a PC atm, so i can not check it :(
I heard some other people talking about "this cant be! they must have used cheats" and much more.
when i saw the screenshot, i saw the hud, it was OSP. so the gametype could be ClanArena, which means you can shoot your friends/enemys without harming them or even shoot them away.. so its easily to make a tower then..
but again, i should have watched the demo first. :)

I am the person that wrote the news for XSReality, sorry it took so long for me to comment on this, but i didn`t even know this news was up here.
About the Tower, i was one of the many (59) participants, and it was all fair & legit... actually, if cheats were turned on we would have reached the 59 man tower.
We didn`t because the top guy went bezerk and started to make his way down the tower with a gaulet killing everyone :>
(pretty funny now, but not when we were doing it :P)

btw.. I have never said i was thinking there were cheats involved, i said it was posible, but i havent said my opinion.
about that top guy, i understand what he was thinking.. im mean, he has got a railgun.. he shoots 1 slug to the ground.. and (almost) everyone would be dead, quite funny, and a much gibs :), but he should have said what he wanted and waited for the end of the tower making progress :)

Corsair - the railgun stops after hitting 4 players methinks. Some guys on Q3W were planning on building a custom map, so they could get a stack of 60+, but that defeats the point of doing a stack on Q3DM17 doesn`t it?

Well, one dude wanted to make a map to get a high stack, but the most people at q3w also said just like you it wouldnt be a Q3dm17 Stack record :)
