GLQuake Shootout!

Conclusion

As you can see, there are a lot of choices, and it is tough deciding which one is "recommended". I have all of these mods on my machine accessible at any time (thanks to the blessed power of QuakeOn), and I often have a hard time picking a favorite when I play. I am also still experimenting with each one, so it is entirely possible that the opinions expressed here may be refined and changed later on .

So far, I think I have to give the prize to the MHQuake mod. With the impressive colored lighting effects, awesome and functional HUD, and really good smoke effects, this offers the best experience for the average Quake user. However, be advised that TomazQuake is nothing to sneeze at either. With some tweaking (which I am still exploring as of this writing), this could end up eventually holding the GLQuake crown.

My advice is: try them all, and decide for yourself!
