    Quake3: Addiction by Peej

Wonderful small to medium sized FFA map that was originally released as a Classic Quake map. There's a lot of stuff going on here - it's gothic but yet it's tech, it's slow yet it's fast, it's dark yet it's bright - you see what I mean? The map looks stunning no matter what kind of graphics card you are employing and some of the attention to both detail and positioning of items is astounding.

Weapons are fairly balanced (I use the Railgun on this map) and the bot file is pretty neat, so a good game is guaranteed even if you can't find a server running this baby. However, note that I have picked this map to be run in the cycle on our new custom map game server, so happily you CAN play this map online. Nicest feature has to be the little pools of mist, resembling water lying along the wall downstairs. Imagine making little splashing sounds in the morning air, the birds quite possibly twittering along outside (bear with me - trying to create a sense of security and peacefulness), and you, the happy player, hopping and skipping along, humming a tune you remember from school but don't know the name of - but it doesn't matter, 'cos when you get to Grandma's house in the forest you she will quite possibly have it on her old gramophone and you can listen to it while she makes you lemonade and cookies and talks to her fat cat George (feeling secure yet?) - and then WHAM! A rocket up the ass from a trigger-happy mutha who came here to play Quake3 and frag loads of other lunatics and instead found you prancing about in the mist in the corner mumbling "Grandma, can I have another cookie?" to yourself over and over and mimicking splashing sounds. You sap!! You got what you deserved!!!! NEVER forget why you came to a Quake3 server!!!!
