    Black Shining Leather by Geit

Alright, lemme loose! - This is another fine map by Geit. He stated that he took the name for the map from Carpathian Forest. It's an atrium style map that represents some kind of midieval dungeon. I played this recently as a LAN match, and I frequently play it offline - it's definitely sweet! So what's so good about it? Read on.

Construction is great. The author has carefully planned the gothic/midieval outline relying on a great choice of textures and layout to produce a nice playable map without an extreme approach to eye candy. In my opinion I would rather have a nice smooth map as opposed to one filled with all of the bells and whistles, but hey...that's my opinion.

There are plenty of vertical opportunities, and believe me; opportunity does present itself frequently on this map. The time spent here with bots will be enjoyable, most of the action is centered around the central area seen in shot 1 but they freely roam the entire map. Quad Damage is there for the taking, just don't spend a long time getting it as the Rocket Launcher isn't far off. It is also possible to R/J over the nearby wall as I found out on accident.:)Weapon item placement is great, and the added effect of hanging chains is a great touch.

This is a map you definitely can't afford to miss. Make sure it makes it onto that already overcrowded hard drive, you won't be sorry. I'm thinking this will make it onto the Quake3stuff Game Server in the near future, meanwhile I'm off for another go at it myself!
