    The Future Of Game Design
    by Relix

Recently I stopped by the MapCenter and spotted a thread started by pseudonym regarding modeling for level design.

Some software companies have been exploring this new "arena" of level design as an ongoing progressive step. A game such as Doom3 will have many more parts of the level built with tools other than Radiant. A couple such tools could be 3D Studio Max as well as Maya. Just imagine the look of the 3D pipe , or a realistic moving engine in that sweet level, rather than a texture of a pipe. Hmm... an extraordinary improvement I must say. I wonder if I will make that leap into the next generation of level design.

Learning something new is always exhilerating to say the least, but most of you have seen my earlier attempts at modeling. They were, uh..in need of some refining if dare use such a rough characterization. Well, back to what I was saying. If you are thinking of getting a head start on modeling, the 3D Cafe has a fairly broad tutorial section to browse through.

Here is a simple 3D SMaxbarrel tutorial to get you started on your modeling path. If your into using Maya, then perhaps this tutorial is what you need.

Either way...it is The Future Of Game Design
