    Borsti's Doomsday by Borsti

Reviewed by RawShark webmaster of RawShark's Quake2 maps

    Filename: rsdm1.pk3

Borsti's first DM map, released (I think) when Q3test was all players where getting to see of ID's masterpiece. It's not the greatest of maps, but it is impressive for a first map and has some features worth noting. In appearance, it looks kind of "doomy", so I'm guessing that's where the name came from. There's a 70-30 mix of gothic and tech architecture, gothic being the prevailing theme. It has an inside and outside area, which always makes a map worth playing for me. Looks a bit blocky in places, but you can forgive the author for that easily - the striking choice of textures takes your attention away from that. Camping is virtually impossible this is, as the author says, a "fighter's map". Main slaughter area is around the quad damage. The pak file also contains rstourney1, the exact same map except that the quad has been replaced with a Lightning Gun. One question - why bother? Not a great map, but not a bad map either.
