The first map from the Temple of Arena to feature the new GeNNeO-TeCHİ map style created by author Foreign_Militia. Basically, this means that Gothic and Tech have been combined in a way that seems natural to the player and yet is also quite amazing. I don't know yet what to make of this "new" style, or even if it is new at all.
What we have in this map (the 4th map by this author in a short space of time - he's almost finished, could even BE finished, his 5th and I am helping him with concept planning for the 6th) is his trademark Gothic temple (with pillars, steps, mirrored-teleporters etc) AND a spacey-bouncy map all in one, which is the result of the GeNNeO-TeCHİ map style when used to maximum efficiency. There is no doubt that this map is impressive, but I still thought it could be a lot better. However, as it is the first map using this new style, I'll say nothing bad at present.
It does have a lot on the good side. It's a pretty big map, capable of carrying the maximum amount of players with enough weapons (the full spread, sometimes 2 of each) and items to keep the game interesting. Some of the weapons are tricky to get at (one of the RLs) and others are near impossible (the BFG) so this is pretty much a map for experts - newbies stay clear or suffer the consequences!! As has been noticed with a lot of the TOA maps, sometimes textures are missing - probably due to the wide variety of tools Foreign_Militia uses in creating these extravagant maps. But fear not - he is releasing, or could even have done so already, a pak file full of all the textures you might require. Check his site for info on this.
Overall, if you're a fan of Temple of Arena and have collected all the maps to date, this one is definitely worth having. Anyone else should download just to see this new map style I've spoken of. As usual it's a huge map but a small file size - a talent the author has that I just can't figure out!
